“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” ― John Steinbeck
The days of the past week have brought sunshine and showers, hot and cool, fireworks and boat rides...it's simply summer in the Keweenaw. It's a busy time for the Re-Treat girls as the demands of the real jobs and volunteer commitments are intermingled with family time and Re-Treat prep. We wouldn't have it any other way. We hope you are able to find a few minutes to stop in this weekend and say "hi". As usual we look forward to seeing you and hope you look forward to having some fun exploring "Simply Summer." Hours: Thursday 5pm - 8pm, Friday 10am-6pm, and Saturday 10am-4pm.
It's June! Who is excited to have warm weather and sunny skies? We are! You may have noticed that when we come up with our store themes for each month, we try to follow the seasons. This year, for June we have failed. Jardin Magnifique in no way represents the magical gardens that we had envisioned and planned for. Amazing how such a late winter can foil big plans. On the plus side, the inside of Re-Treat is blooming with a ton of fun finds, refurbished furniture and unique artwork for inside and out. We know there is something magical waiting for you so please come visit and see what we have created this month. Re-Treat will be open tomorrow(Thursday) from 5pm-8pm, Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. See you there!
"When the uniqueness of a place sings to us like a melody, then we will know, at last, what it means to be at home." ~Paul Gruchow
The grey skies and brown snow banks are lingering here in the Keweenaw. While we wait for the spring flowers, the warm sun and time in the outdoors, we are spending more time imagining our special place. Everyone has their special place or just a special space in their home or garden that speaks to you. We know that a special place is part people (or sometimes no people) but also part the atmosphere created by the decorating of the space. Once again, we are here for you this month with an arrangement of fun, bright furniture and other great things to help you decorate your favorite space or create a new happy place. Hope to see you this Thursday (5-8pm), Friday (10am-6pm) and Saturday (10am-4pm).
This month at Re-Treat our theme is Thoughts of Yesteryear. It's a chance to look back and remember times gone by, memories of youth, family and fun. Vintage finds have a way of evoking memories and we enjoy hearing the stories of our visitors as they recall this or that. We love vintage decorating as it makes that connection with the past. Mixed in with the vintage for this month is lots of bright colors, flowers and freshly painted furniture.
Yes, we are under a winter warning again but we our offering a bit of Spring at this month's Re-Treat. Hope you can join us despite the weather outside. Thursday 5-8pm, Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.
We would like to say that Spring is on its way but we are not so optimistic with the negative temps we've had over the last couple weeks. With that said, there has been No Place Like Home. Almost everyone you run into lately has been spending lots of time indoors. The Re-Treat gals have spent this time to dig a little deeper into our reserve our projects and reinventing some old pieces. Yes, we have a reserve and depending on our mood it is either the pit of despair or the field of dreams.
This had been a tough winter. While it is beautiful because of the mounds of white snow it is also challenging to get outdoors with the freezing temps. We hope you are using your extra indoor time by creating, redecorating or organizing. In the end, there is no place like home. Hope you can visit us this weekend at our second home, Re-Treat Design. Open Thursday 5-8pm, Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.
Yes, it is Re-Treat time! I know it seems like it has been a while but in reality the weeks disappeared quickly as we patched walls, reorganized the back stock and cleaned. We think the shop came together quite nicely this month with some great new finds, some old finds and of course fresh ideas.
One of the questions we get every month (besides how long have you been here), is where do you get all your ideas. Easy answer, from everywhere. Books, magazines, friends, our vendors and the internet are our go to resources when we want to explore new ideas at Re-Treat. A person can get tangled four hours in the web of resources that include Pinterest and Etsy. While it is easy to get bogged down in all the ideas out there, we encourage you to do some exploring, visit our shop and just create. Whether it is finding just the right piece of art for that forgotten wall or finding just the perfect vase to compliment the entry table...inspiration is out there, you just need to look for it.
If you've missed your monthly dose of Re-Treat, no more waiting, we are open Thursday at 5pm. Welcome back, we look forward to seeing you!
