"Give Thanks" - November 3, 4 & 5
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. ~Thornton Wilder
Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season is a time for reflecting on all the gifts in our lives. Whether it be with family or friends, we encourage you find a few moments to thank those that have shared their time or influenced your life. We hope that we've been able to provide a few moments of joy and inspiration and we are thankful that you return month after month to discover new treasures or just stop in to say hello.
Here's a few sneak peaks of this month's opening. Hopefully you will find a few gifts to share or new ideas for the holiday season.
Have a great turkey day!

Eerie Elegance - October 6, 7 & 8
It’s October. It’s hard to believe. But get ready for Eerie Elegance. What is Eerie Elegance? Well the definition of Eerie is: strange and slightly frightening while the definition of Elegance is: a refined quality of gracefulness and good taste. Let’s just say you get a good dose of Halloween, a touch of Autumn and wait for it…a Christmas room! You may say the Christmas room is the Eerie part of this month (strange and slightly frightening) but there are those of you that asked for it and it’s not too early to start thinking about the holidays.
We love this time of year as the store is f-u-l-l and there is something for everyone including new candles that will make you say W.O.W., fall jewelry from our artsy vendors, fall scents from Bumbletown Soap Works. It’s also a great month for vintage goods and we’ll be replenishing throughout the weekend. So please come and circle the store, then circle some more as one time around is never enough.

Gifts of Autumn - September 8, 9, & 10
We just got back from our annual excursion to Copper Harbor for fun, adventure and volunteering at the Copper Harbor Fat Tire Festival. It once again provided us with great memories but also signaled the transition from summer to fall. The seasons are a gift to us living in the Keweenaw and they always seem to pass too quickly. Join us this month as we feature 'Gifts of Autumn'....oranges, yellows, reds, fall leaves and lots of halloween mixed in.

Back to school, gathering with friends and black and while are our inspirations for this month...a couple preview pictures....

Oh la la, c'est pas possible. See you Thursday, Friday & Saturday (June 2, 3 & 4)
Yes it is possible...we are open again on Thursday! The theme this month is oh la la and if I could figure out how to add the accents above the "la" and "la" I would. But since I can't we'll just let you know that its a little french, a little 4th of July and of a lot of exciting new finds.
In case you looked closely at our postcard, you'll find the postcard is wrong! Sorry about that, we are open our regular Thursday evening from 5-8pm, Friday from 10am-6pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
Here's a couple sneak peaks, more pics on facebook!

"Re-Imagine" - April 7, 8 & 9
It's our 1 Year Anniversary!
Definition of REIMAGINE:
verb: to imagine again or anew; especially : to form a new conception of : re-create
At Re-Treat, we are all about the "Re": re-use, re-cycle and re-purpose. What once was...is new again. While we try to offer up new ideas and new creations each month, it's also about encouraging our friends and customers to re-imagine the use of ordinary items. There may be ready to use items on our floor but there are also many things just sitting and waiting for someone to l-o-v-e their potential. So please, stop in, keep your minds open and remember to look for items just waiting for you to "re-imagine".
Visit us on Thursday from 5pm-8pm at our 1 year anniversary celebration, Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. Thanks to our friends, customers and artists for an inspiring first year! Here's a few sneak peaks of "re-imagine."

Think Spring - March 3, 4 & 5
~ "Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush." ~
Just last week we were towing the trailer through record snows in Minneapolis in an attempt to gather more goods for this month’s sale. Don’t worry, we survived the storm and managed to bring back some great chippy cabinets, metal baskets of all sorts, and miscellaneous fun. We want to tell you that spring is just around the corner, but the pessimist (actually optimist) in us thinks we've got many weeks of winter left. Here at Re-Treat, Christine and I both love snow, cold and winter fun but we also love all that is spring. So just for this week we’ll be bringing you a little spring love with birds, plants and flowers, vignetted with local art and vintage finds.
If you want to see more preview photos, jump on over to our Facebook page. Don’t forget to like us so we can keep you up to date on all things Re-Treat.

Thousands of Pages Unfold in the Bitter Cold - It's Winter Carnival Time and We Will Be Open!
Well we broke our first weekend of the month rule again. Okay it is just a guideline as we adjust to our schedules and to the events around us. This month it's the Michigan Tech Winter Carnival. We will be open February 10th thru the 12th (Thursday night thru Saturday) so Winter Carnival visitors can also have some fun exploring Re-Treat.
Since the theme for Carnival is basically books, we've torn off covers, we've torn out pages and we've strategically placed them throughout the store along with all our new finds from the last couple months.
Of course it's also Valentine's Day time so we've got a few hearts laying around too for your special someone...
Did I mention great finds and new creations?
See you soon! Watch our facebook page for more pictures...
